The Swansea City evening transfer update as Liverpool's Rhian Brewster talks continue with Leeds United and Bristol City hovering

Swansea City are hoping to make Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster their first signing of the January transfer window.

Steve Cooper has been an admirer of the 19-year-old for some time and is eager to clinch a loan deal for the young forward.

The Swans are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, with Borja Baston being the club's only out-and-out striker following Sam Surridge's return to Bournemouth earlier this month.

And Brewster is the club's top transfer target.

The forward played for Liverpool in their 1-0 FA Cup third round win over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield on Sunday.

And it's understood Brewster could seal a loan move to Swansea until the end of the season before Sunday's clash with Cardiff City.

Cooper worked with Brewster when the Reds' academy star finished as the tournament's scorer at the Under-17s World Cup in 2017.

Brewster scored eight times in the competition, with England's young guns defeating Spain in the showpiece final.

The Independent claim Leeds United and Bristol City have both contacted the youngster's representatives over a possible move while also reporting that "Swansea are being unobliging with personal elements of the transfer like goal bonuses".

It's understood that the final details - including potential player bonuses - of a deal were being ironed out on Monday.

And despite those reported hiccups, Brewster is set to become a Swansea player within 48 hours.

Elsewhere, Andre Ayew has been nominated for December's PFA Bristol Street Motors Championship Player of the Month Award.

The Ghana international netted five times in six matches for the Swans over the festive period.

He is up against Cardiff City's Lee Tomlin, Luke Ayling of Leeds United, West Brom man Sam Johnstone, Tom Lees of Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall's Jed Wallace for the award.
