The Swansea beaches where you can now walk your dog

There are a few more options for a dogs' day out in Swansea as restrictions stopping you walking your pet on some of the city's beaches have been officially lifted.

Swansea is blessed with plenty of stunning beaches, but every year, from May 1 to September 30, a bylaw comes into force which restricts dogs from being taken for a walk on some of them.

Dog owners who fail to keep to dog-friendly beaches risk being issued with a fixed penalty notice or a fine.

Our four-legged friends have been able to use Swansea Bay (from the slip opposite Victoria Park to the beach access at Sketty lane), Horton (from the lifeguards station east towards Oxwich ), Mumbles, Pwll Du, Pobbles, Three Cliffs, Tor Bay, Crawley, Oxwich, Mewslade, Rhossili, Llangennith, Broughton, Whiteford Sands and Port Eynon (from the main steps west to the Salt House).

Report any problems near where you live here...

But from today onwards they can now also use the following beaches again until May 1.

  • Swansea Bay (from the River Tawe to the slip opposite Victoria Park and from the beach access at Sketty Lane to the northern edge of the slip at the West Cross Inn)
  • Bracelet Bay
  • Limeslade Bay
  • Rotherslade Bay
  • Langland Bay
  • Caswell Bay
  • Port Eynon beach (from the eastern edge of the steps to Port Eynon beach to the eastern edge of Horton beach access)

But Swansea Council does have restrictions on dogs being kept on leads.

A dog must be kept on a lead along the entire promenade at Swansea Bay (from the River Tawe to the Knab Rock car park, Mumbles), the promenades at Langland Bay and Rotherslade and the promenade at Caswell Bay.

If you fail to do so you could be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
