Creams, whites, and beiges are renowned for their soothing qualities, making them a forever favorite in the bedroom. However, Emma Watson’s purple twist on the conventional palette has drawn attention to a more eclectic color scheme, which experts say is one of the most soothing things you can do for your bedroom.

While purple bedrooms may seem riskier than subtler neutrals, wellness experts have reassured that this color is a surprising sleep hero. Emma has introduced it in a way that is not overpowering, through pattern, meaning her room doesn't feel too dark. Instead, the purple patterns have room to breathe, meaning they command attention without feeling overwhelming.

As a result, the room is a cottagecore haven that feels like it belongs in an English country home – and following suit could help you sleep better.

Among the wellness experts who swear by purple bedrooms is Amy Parker, a certified Qigong Instructor and owner of Qigong with Amy. She explains that the color is particularly notable in the world of Qigong (ancient Chinese healing practices).

'We have our whole bedroom painted purple. It's a beautiful lavender or lilac color. In the realm of Qigong, the color purple correlates to the Triple Heater (an invisible organ based on traditional Chinese Medicine). The Triple Heater relates to the overall well-being of our three treasures: our mind, our heart, and our gut (the lower part of the torso). The Triple Heater is in charge of monitoring heat and moisture in our bodies. We sleep better when we are cooled down,' Amy explains.

Alongside incorporating this soothing bedroom color through paint or bedding, Amy recommends purchasing a purple light (such as this one on Amazon) to make your space feel more peaceful.

'Our vision is 50% of our brain, therefore, when we're settling down at night in our beds, it's helpful to have a relaxing hue to bring our brains down to relaxation mode. The current tips regarding sleep are no screens before bed, do some reading, and dim the lights. I also recommend having your bedroom be a light purple color to promote relaxation and peace for sleeping.'
