With Tottenham Hotspur having held talks with Mauricio Pochettino over their managerial vacancy, Spurs forward Harry Kane will certainly be keeping an eye on developments.
football.london understands that the north London outfit have begun a dialogue with the Argentine in a move that could see him return to the club just 18 months after he was originally sacked by Daniel Levy.
The 49-year-old is also thought to be keen on a return and one man who will be hoping his reunion with the club occurs would be striker Kane.
The England forward properly broke through and shone under the tutelage of the former Southampton boss.
Under Pochettino, Kane played 242 games in all competitions for Spurs, netting an eye-watering 169 goals.
Most will have understandably thought that this period was Kane’s most prolific spell of his career, having twice claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in 2016 and 2017.
However, when looking at goals scored per game, the striker was actually more prolific under former boss Jose Mourinho.
In 62 games under the Portuguese, Kane netted 45 times at an average of 0.77 goals per game.
Meanwhile, his average sat at 0.69 during the tenure of Pochettino.
Of course, both figures are extraordinarily high and put Kane amongst the most lethal finishers in the Premier League but it is certainly surprising to note that he boasted a more clinical record under Mourinho.
Interestingly, Kane’s average dropped sharply during the interim reign of Ryan Mason.
Having scored twice in six games under the former midfielder, that hands the Spurs forward a strike rate of 0.33 goals per game.
