The surprising clause Newcastle United are insisting on in any Dwight Gayle sale

Newcastle United have reportedly named their conditions for Dwight Gayle to go out on loan.

Gayle is wanted by a clutch of Championship clubs who are eyeing promotion to the top flight and he is a prolific forward at that level.

The Daily Mail claims Newcastle have told clubs who are interested that they can take him on loan but only if they agree to a £20million obligation to buy clause in the deal.

At the moment that is putting off the clubs, including Nottingham Forest, who believe that he would fire the goals to confirm their promotion.

Newcastle clearly want to negotiate a good deal for Gayle, who has 18 months left on his contract. They agreed a deal with West Brom back in August that would have seen them bank a £5million loan fee with an agreed £15million further to pay to convert the deal into a permanent one if the Baggies went up.

Gayle turned down the deal in the end, suggesting he wanted a permanent transfer to give him some clarity over his future. Stoke also made an offer in the summer.

While , he has only been involved fitfully for United this season. He was injured for last week’s FA Cup clash at Rochdale but is in contention to play in the replay – and should be involved in Newcastle’s fixture congestion in the coming weeks.
