The surprise Tottenham player Jose Mourinho simply cannot afford to drop from his best XI

Jose Mourinho has some big decisions to make all over the pitch once his Tottenham players are fully fit and raring to go.

Adding seven new faces to his squad for the 2020/21 season given the disappointment of last campaign, the Lilywhites have strength in depth and that only bodes well for the club going forward.

One of the main areas the head coach will have some tough choices to make is in the middle of the park.

Tanguy Ndombele has featured regularly this season but he will only become fitter and a better player with more Premier League minutes under his belt, while it has really been a stop-start season for Giovani Lo Celso so far due to injury.

The Argentine is getting there in terms of his fitness but it may be after the November international break when Spurs fans see him influencing games once again on a consistent basis as was the case earlier in the year when he broke into Mourinho's best XI.

A fit Lo Celso could then see Tottenham fans get what they have craved for some time and that's a midfield three of the Argentine, Ndombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg finally unleashed.

However, one man who will have something to say about that is Moussa Sissoko.

The Frenchman has been a regular in the Premier League in recent weeks having started Spurs' past four league games and played the full 90 minutes on each occasion.

The big numbers at the club allows Mourinho to rotate his squad and this is exactly what he's done for the Europa League in midweek with the French international only starting one of their first five games so far in the competition.

As he will more than likely take his place on the bench against Ludogorets this Thursday, a start away at West Brom on Sunday appears to be on the cards.

Following Mourinho's arrival at the club almost one year ago, Sissoko found himself out of the team initially before forcing his way back in.

The 57-year-old actually claimed shortly after his arrival that he believed the player's best position was in a forward role on the right, yet he was only really used there once against Bournemouth, a game in which he netted a rare goal, before reverting back to the middle of the park.

A player who came in for a lot of stick from fans in his first two years at the club after struggling to make an impact, Sissoko brings power and energy to the midfield and Mourinho soon realised that he couldn't do without him in the middle of the park.

It has been pretty much the same so far this season as well after the head coach opted to drop him down to the bench for the Premier League opener against Everton.

It soon became evident that Mourinho had to change things up in the middle with Andre Gomes, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan dominating and causing problems for Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, thus seeing him hook Dele Alli and bring the Frenchman on to shore things up.

An unused substitute in their next league fixture against Southampton and named on the bench for the Newcastle match before dropping out ahead of kick-off through illness, Sissoko has been a regular in the team over the past four league games.

Bringing energy to midfield with his all-action displays to complement Hojbjerg and Ndombele, the Lilywhites have looked solid in there with the trio and their presence has given the attack the ideal platform to go on and win games.

Forcing Mourinho to change his midfield thinking and bring him into the team on a couple of occasions over the past year, Sissoko is in there on merit and has become such a key player for the experienced boss.

It may be a simple choice for fans in terms of picking their best midfield once Lo Celso is back to full fitness but the ex-Newcastle man will be doing everything in his power to ensure he remains there.

Sissoko is a player Mourinho simply cannot do without.
