The surprise team Danny Rose has been urged to join as defender nears Tottenham exit

Danny Rose is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer after he was left out of the club's pre-season tour squad.

Now the speculation has begun on where the England international will end up.

Rose has two years left on his current contract, something which has led to reports of a £25m value for the player.

The defender has spent 12 years at Spurs but the 29-year-old is now attempting to find a new club before the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain are favourites to land the right-back but the bookies have Leeds United in second.

It's highly unlikely he ends up back at Leeds, where he learned his trade in the youth ranks.

But it has been revealed by Sky Sports and talkSPORT presenter Jim White that Rose's dad has spoken to him about the potential of the left-back re-signing for the Yorkshire side.

Whilst this is clearly not something to be taken overly seriously, it makes for interesting reading regardless.

"What I can tell you, and it’s quite amusing, I know Nigel Rose, Danny’s dad quite well," White said.

"Tongue-in-cheek he got in touch with me today and said: ‘Jim I’d love for him to go back to Leeds United, the home of the beautiful game’.

"I’m not too sure that’s going to happen Nigel but you tickled me with that this morning."

Whilst it's unlikely Rose goes back to Leeds, the club would actually earn 10% of any profit from him leaving Tottenham due to a clause inserted into his Spurs' contract way back in 2007.
