The surprise reason David Beckham is supporting Tottenham in Champions League final against Liverpool

Former England captain David Beckham has revealed that he will be supporting Tottenham Hotspur in tonight's Champions League final.

Liverpool lock horns with their fellow Premier League rivals in Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, as they seek to end their season on a high after what has been a remarkable campaign both at home and abroad.

The Reds also know that a win in the Spanish capital will seal their sixth European crown, and avenge last season's disappointing defeat to Real Madrid in the Kiev.

But Beckham, who made his made name playing for the Reds' arch-rivals Manchester United, before moving to Spanish side Real Madrid, is backing Mauricio Pochettino's men to come out on top in Madrid.

Taking to Instagram, the 44-year-old shared a story about his Grandad, a Spurs fan, who he said would have been 'so proud' to see the north London side in the final.

"Big day today, 2 English clubs in the Champions League final. Can only be one winner and my Grandad would have been so proud to have seen Spurs in this game," he posted.

"Always used to buy me and the boys Spurs kits."

Alongside the message, Beckham also posted a picture of his son Brooklyn in a vintage Tottenham top and tagged the club's official account.
