The surprise name some Chelsea supporters want to replace Cesar Azpilicueta as captain

The Chelsea club captain issue has been a debate every since John Terry departed.

Allowed to leave on a free transfer after lifting the Premier League title one final time at the end of the 2016/17 season, the armband has since been shared between two players.

Gary Cahill and Cesar Apilicueta.

Mostly the latter as the former was frozen out of the team by Maurizio Sarri last season, although the duo did lift the Europa League trophy together.

With Cahill now at Crystal Palace following his release in the summer, Azpilicueta has assumed the role as captain.

But it would appear that not all Chelsea fans are happy with this.

The Spaniard, who has a goal disallowed because of VAR against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, has struggled at the start of the season, while incidents such as Kepa in the Carabao Cup final have led some fans to believe he’s not the right choice as captain.

With that said, who is?

Take a look at the suggestion from some Chelsea fans on Twitter and reddit.

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool: Frank Lampard press conference

Jorginho’s name being mentioned is very much a surprise given he came in for huge criticism from supporters during his debut season at the club.

Being tipped as a future captain is proof that he is winning over some fans and his form this season has impressed Frank Lampard.

"He's just a fantastic sportsman who cares deeply," Lampard said. "When you have a training session that might fall below standard or drop for a moment, he's the one who drives it up again."
