The surprise name Arsenal fans want to see replace Alexandre Lacazette next season

Arsenal's Europa League exit on Thursday night at the hand of Olympiacos has prompted talk about Mikel Arteta's striking options.

Alexandre Lacazette - a scorer in the first-leg - was given the nod over Eddie Nketiah to lead the line at the Emirates Stadium, but didn't have his best outing for the Gunners and was substituted in extra-time.

Leading scorer and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who went from hero to zero in the space of seven minutes - started on the left but moved to the middle after Gabriel Martinelli was introduced.

Both players have been linked with summer moves away from Arsenal and speculation is only going to increase if there's no Champions League football on offer next season.

Although, this week Lacazette has rejected suggestions that he has an agreement to leave this summer.

"I didn’t know about this (the contract reports)," he said. "I have a contract with the club so there is no point for me to leave."

Meanwhile, Aubameyang responded to claims that he wants to wait to see if the club will be playing in the Champions League next season before committing his future.

"Why they Talk about what they don’t Know," the striker wrote on his Twitter account with a shrugging emoji.

If one does end up leaving in the summer, it would appear that selling Lacazette is the most popular choice amongst supporters and a replacement has already been identified.

Despite the obvious demand to sign a new striker, some Arsenal fans want to see youngster Folarin Balogun make the step up to the first-team.

The 18-year-old was on target twice for the U23's against Manchester City on Friday night, prompting a huge reaction on social media.

Below is what was said on Twitter...

Balogun has previously admitted that he models his game on Aubameyang.

"I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays," said Balogun last season in an interview with Arsenal.com.

"I've trained a few times with the first team and I feel that I've benefitted from being involved with them, especially when playing against experienced defenders which forces you to find different ways of getting in on goal as what works at lower levels does not always work against them."
