The surprise a police officer found on her windscreen when she returned to her patrol car

A police officer was treated to a random act of kindness during a stop-off at a supermarket.

PC Cerian Hughes had been obtaining statements inside the Tesco supermarket in Pontarddulais before returning to the patrol car.

It was then that she was shocked to discover her car was not quite as she'd left it.

A member of the public had decided to leave a selection of chocolates on the windscreen, just beneath the wipers.

McVitie’s chocolate Hobnobs and Cadbury’s Mini Rolls were among the gifts left by the kind stranger.

South Wales Police later took to social media to thank the person who bought the treats for the officers at the end of a “challenging week”.

PC Hughes said: “After obtaining statements at Tesco Pontarddulais, I returned to the police car to find that a very kind member of the public had left these on the bonnet.

“A very kind gesture of which we at Gorseinon police station are very grateful for.

“A positive end to a very challenging week.

“Diolch yn fawr to the kind stranger.”

A number of people have taken to social media to comment on the kind gesture, with many calling it “thoughtful” and “well deserved”.

It comes at a time when the emergency services are facing extra pressure due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has shut down businesses and public areas, caused panic-buying in the shops, and forced many to have to work from home.
