The Supervet star Noel Fitzpatrick has opened up about the “traumatic” moment he saw his dog be run over by a vehicle.
The TV personality and practising veterinarian was out for a walk with his terrier, Keira, when a speeding van came around the corner and hit the dog.
Appearing on This Morning on Thursday (29 October), Fitzpatrick told presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that he was an “emotional wreck” after the accident.
“When you hear your dog, the love of your life for 13 years who has been through the ups and downs with you, being crushed and you're two feet away from the wheel, your life unravels in front of your eyes,” he said.
Keira suffered a fractured pelvis and internal organ damage and is now in recovery.
The dog was treated at Fitzpatrick’s own vet practice in Surrey, with the titular Supervet operating on Keira himself, in what he described as an “intense” experience.
Fitzpatrick has starred in documentary series The Supervet since 2014, with the show seeing the practitioner and his team administer cutting-edge treatments to some of the hardest-to-treat pets in the UK.
