The supermarkets running out of home delivery slots for lockdown and those with plenty of availability

With Wales back in lockdown, many people are again turning to home deliveries from supermarkets to stock up on essentials.

Back in March, a delivery slot for many proved difficult due to the high demand.

And supermarket home delivery slots are starting to fill up across Welsh cities now that the fire-break lockdown is currently in force until Monday, November 9.

While coronavirus rules at supermarkets are already in place, stores are reinforcing guidelines and urging people not to panic buy.

However, many people are turning to home delivery with some spots quickly filling up.

Although, many supermarkets claim that there are slots still available if you did want to order your food online.

Here's what they had to say.

Tesco

A postcode in the Llansamlet area of Swansea shows that delivery slots are fully booked between October 26 and November 8 - when Wales is in lockdown.

But there are a small number of slots available between these dates for a postcode in Cardiff city centre.

Although demand for slots remains high, Tesco said that it has not exceeded capacity.

"We have more than doubled our online capacity across the UK, from around 600,000 weekly slots at the start of the crisis to 1.5 million now.

"We continue to provide priority slots to vulnerable people in Wales based on a list provided to supermarkets by Welsh Govt.

"In Wales, while demand for slots remains high and availability will vary between areas, demand has not exceeded capacity. We have both Click + Collect and Home Delivery slots available."

Morrisons

Morrisons (PA)

Morrisons has said that it also has slots available.

"We also have a number of other services which customers can use to get a delivery to their doorstep". These include:

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's (Steve Bell)

Sainsbury's has said that they have good availability in Wales. The supermarket said that they have significantly increased the online shopping capacity.

"We continue to offer good availability in Wales.

"We were the first supermarket to prioritise elderly and vulnerable people for home delivery and continue to do so.

"We have significantly increased our online shopping capacity across home delivery and Click & Collect and are regularly releasing additional slots," the supermarket said.

Asda

Asda has confirmed that although they are busy, they do have delivery slots avaliable.

Availability depends on loads of factors, what day/time you are looking for and what area.

So although there might be few left for the time/area you are looking at there is still availability generally.
