The 'super easy' £1 cleaning trick which strips dirt and grime from clothes

When it comes to getting your clothes sparkling clean again, it can be difficult to know what to do.

However, one woman has come up with a genius method, and the best news is, it's both simple and cheap.

The idea was created by Carlie Helmer, who shared it on her Facebook page, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Since being posted, Carlie's washing hack has been shared over 50,000 times, and has received over 14,000 comments. Impressive.

Her post read: "I've gotten over 20 messages about me stripping so I figured id make a post, feel free to share!

"Stripping gets all the built up dirt, sweat, and grime out of your laundry making them lighter and smell new."

She then went on to give a step-by-step guide on how her technique works.

Carlie wrote: "STEP 1: fill up your tub sink with hot water & add baking soda, powder detergent & vinegar. I don't measure anything, just dump til I feel it's good. Also, I've been using just the laundry booster alone and it's worked amazing.

"STEP 2: throw your items in make sure it's all wet & let sit for at least 3 hours.

"STEP 3: once done, ring all your items out & throw in the wash on a rinse only cycle. (mine is rinse & spin) then throw in the dryer as usual."

Carlie concluded: "[It's] super easy, and the results will make you wanna strip everything in your house."

"I've done this with bedsheets and then with towels but did it all in the washing machine....they came out amazing! Sheets were super soft and towels were soft and fluffy and lost that funky smell...." said one.

Somebody else wrote: "Can you imagine doing shoes?"

"If my clothes are that dirty I’m throwing them away," joked a third.

A fourth said: "I’m doing this to [my] hats!"
