The sunshine is coming, says the Met Office, with warmer and brighter weather arriving from today

Cloud, fog, and mist are set to retreat as sunny spells and warmer temperatures set in ahead of Easter weekend. The Met Office forecast for Thursday (April 14) in Wales suggests there will be "occasional bright spells" and that it will 'feel warm' in any sunshine.

The forecast from the Met Office for Thursday says: "Low cloud, mist and fog gradually retreating back to coasts. Thereafter, a mostly fine day with occasional bright spells developing. Feeling warm in any sunshine with light winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C."

The outlook for the Easter weekend - Friday to Sunday - says: "Mostly dry into the Easter weekend. Cloudy at times with the odd shower or drizzly outbreak in places, but feeling warm in the sunshine. The BBC forecast for Wales predicts highs of 18°C for Thursday, with "light cloud and light winds" throughout the day. According to the forecast, the light cloud is set to continue for the country throughout Easter weekend, with the BBC predicting this for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The forecast suggests that Friday will be the warmest day of the bank holiday weekend, reaching highs of 18°C, while temperatures are set to reach 16°C on Saturday, and 17°C on Sunday.

For Cardiff, the Met Office has predicted highs of 16°C on Thursday with early morning "mist changing to overcast by late morning." In Swansea, temperatures for Thursday are set to reach 13°C, with overcast conditions for the day. Wrexham is predicted to reach highs of 16°C on Thursday, with "sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning".

In a tweet, BBC weatherman Derek Brockway said that conditions were looking "mixed" for Easter weekend. He wrote: "Some dry, bright and warm weather. Also some mist/fog patches and a few scattered showers. More unsettled later in the weekend with low pressure and a cold front bringing some rain. Monday breezy and fresher with sunshine and showers."
