The Sunderland XI fans want to see walk out at Wembley against Tranmere today

Sunderland fans would only make minor changes to the starting XI for today's big Wembley showdown with Tranmere.

The Black Cats take on Rovers in the Papa John's Trophy final at the famous stadium with several first-team players ruled out through injury or because they are cup tied.

Head coach Lee Johnson is without Bailey Wright, Denver Hume and Jordan Willis, while Jordan Jones is a doubt, and Carl Winchester, Dion Sanderson and Jake Vokins are ineligible.

However, Lynden Gooch, Grant Leadbitter and Conor McLaughlin are all fit to start as Johnson looks to pick a side which can win today and be ready for Wednesday night's big League One game at Accrington.

We asked Sunderland fans to pick their starting XI and this is the side they have gone with.

McLaughlin slots in at right-back with Tom Flanagan partnering Luke O'Nien in the centre of defence and Callum McFadzean at left-back.

A midfield duo of Max Power and Josh Scowen in the engine room is selected, with Leadbitter missing out, while Lynden Gooch and Aiden McGeady provide attacking threat from the flanks.

Up front, Aiden O'Brien - who faces a late fitness test - lines up alongside in-form Charlie Wyke.
