The Sunday Times Rich List 2019: The 17 richest young sports stars in the UK - including Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez and Raheem Sterling

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero is now in the top three richest young sports stars in the UK, it has been revealed.

The Blues record goalscorer, who earns a reported £250,000 a week, has rocketed up the list with a 2019 wealth of £58 million.

The list compiled by the Sunday Times, and published ahead of the release of their full annual 'Rich List' on Sunday, looks all British or UK-based sports stars under the age of 30.

And Aguero, who joined City eight years ago, has seen his personal fortune increase by £10 million from last year meaning he is now ahead of unified heavyweight Boxing star Anthony Joshua in fourth place.

Only Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, worth £94 million, and golfer Rory McIllroy who tops the list  being worth a whopping £138 million, are now ahead of him. They are the only non-footballers on the 17-man list.

Alexis Sanchez's mega-money move to Manchester United from Arsenal has seen him become the club's highest ranked player on the list. His earnings have increased by £18 million meaning he is now at seven.

That is one place above his Old Trafford counterpart Paul Pogba, who won the World Cup with France last summer.

Pogba, 26, has a string of sponsorship deals including a 10-year tie-up with sportswear giant Adidas and is known for his collection of fast cars including a Ferrari 812 worth around £250,000. His 2019 is now estimated at £37 million, up £12 million from last year.

City star man Kevin De Bruyne, who penned a new six year deal at the Etihad last year, has seen his value increase by £9 million putting him at number 11.

That is one place ahead of Reds goalkeeper David Gea, whose wealth has increased by around six million to £24 million. That could increase even more if he pens a new deal at Old Trafford, or if he secures a big-money move.

Unsurprisingly, Blues hotshot Raheem Sterling has shot his way into the list after excellent two seasons for City.

He has scored 23 goals for Pep Guardiola's men and was named PFA Young Player of the year and the Football Writer's Player of the Year this term.

He has also seen his profile increase and earned widespread praise for the way he has dealt with off-field issues such as racism.

He is a new entry on the list at number 15, worth around £18 mllion. However he is still behind the likes of Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and West Ham's Andy Carroll.

United striker Romelu Lukaku also sneaks onto the list and is joint 16th with England captain Harry Kane with an estimated fortune of £16 million.

In all, sports stars account for just over a third – 17 out of 50 places – of the Young Rich List, where everyone has a minimum worth of £16m this year.

Golfer Rory McIlroy tops the list and is one of only two non-footballers along with Boxer Anthony Joshua (Daily Record)
