The British tabloid and Danish newspaper exchanged ‘taunts’ ahead of Wednesday’s game
(Picture: Twitter )British tabloid The Sun and Denmark’s BT newspaper ramped up the national rivalries ahead of Wednesday’s Euro 2020 semi-final at Wembley.
The two newspapers exchanged a couple of inspired ads as banterous taunts to one another.
Wednesday’s front page of The Sun read: “Bring home the bacon, lads” with two strips of Danish bacon on bread to form the shape of an England flag.
The Sun also published the same image in Denmark’s BT newspaper, but with an amended caption, “We eat you for breakfast” - in reference to Denmark being a prominent supplier of UK bacon.

BT fought back by referencing the distant past. The Danish newspaper placed an advertisement in The Sun that read, “It’s not coming home... We’re coming home!” which played on England’s 1996 football anthem ‘Three Lions’.
The images showed a flock of furious-looking Vikings to reference the late 8th-century conquests against England.

People take to Twitter to show their appreciation towards the light-hearted taunts ahead of Wednesday’s match.
One called it ‘good natured heckling’.
Denmark vs. Enland... Lol. Good natured heckling. The Sun writes (in Danish) "We'll eat you for breakfast"... pic.twitter.com/pE0XAeJLR1

While another mocked how ‘serious’ the newspapers are taking the Euros.
I see both English (left) and Danish (right) newspapers are taking today's Eurocup game seriously 😂 pic.twitter.com/KwFoJDAQ3b

One found the banter highly amusing.
Thoroughly enjoying the banter between Danish @berlingske & @TheSun - who swapped adverts in the run-up to today's clash of red & white between #England & #Denmark. Brilliant! 🇩🇰🏴
