Fans are still reeling from last night’s The Summer I Turned Pretty finale and now, Prime Video has revealed that the hit series will wrap up, not with another season, but with a feature film adaptation.

It’s still early days so we don’t have a trailer or release date yet, but we do have this spicy tagline for the movie: “The story continues the final chapter of Belly’s journey” — sounds intriguing… I knew summer wasn’t over just yet!

What do we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty movie?
Author extraordinaire Jenny Han is set to write and direct the project. While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the surprise announcement was made during the show’s finale red carpet celebration in Paris.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation,” said Courtenay Valenti, head of film, streaming and theatrical at Amazon MGM Studios, and Vernon Sanders, Global Head of Television, at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.
“We’re proud of the series’ extraordinary success and couldn’t be more excited to partner again with Jenny Han to bring fans an unforgettable next chapter.”
Han went on to tease that “there is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due”, adding that she’s “so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans”.
