The sublime Swansea City player ratings as Piroe, Paterson and others run riot in Cardiff City win

BEN HAMER 8

Well positioned to deny Ryan Giles early on and was good under the high ball as Cardiff lumped balls into his box. Another clean sheet.

RYAN BENNETT 8

After a fairly slow start, Bennett used all of his experience to nullify the likes of Kieffer Moore. Confident in the second half and played his part in a clean sheet before being withdrawn.

KYLE NAUGHTON 8

Passed the ball relentlessly and, after a slightly nervy start, the experienced defender helped to give Swansea complete control. Won a number of headers too in what was a top display.

RYAN MANNING 8

The Republic of Ireland defender made a few important clearances as Cardiff started well. Had more time on the ball as the game progressed which ensured he was able to play his role in a controlling performance.

ETHAN LAIRD 8

Could well have won a penalty early on and caused problems with his pace throughout. Did brilliantly to help set up Jake Bidwell's goal.

FLYNN DOWNES 8

Mopped up everything brilliantly at the back, particularly as the game wore on. Work rate and vision were key for his side's third goal. He's become a real favourite with the Jack Army.

MATT GRIMES 8

The captain dictated things well from midfield when he got on the ball. Passing range was typically slick and he helped to nullify Cardiff's options through the centre.

JAKE BIDWELL 8

Made some useful tackles and clearances in defence and grew in stature in attack as the game wore on. Headed home his second goal for the club to send the fans into raptures late on.

KOREY SMITH 8

Worked his socks off, particularly in the press. Headed wide shortly before being subbed off after a fine effort.

JAMIE PATERSON - Star Man 9

Was Swansea's most creative player in the first half and, after almost claiming an assist for Joel Piroe, Paterson sent the home fans into raptures with a sublime strike on 29 minutes. His vision was key in the second half and his assists for Joel Piroe and Bidwell were superb. Outstanding performance.

JOEL PIROE 8

Was barely involved until he was brilliantly denied by Alex Smithies just before Paterson's opener. Grew in the second half and took his goal - his seventh of the campaign - remarkable well before receiving a standing ovation after being withdrawn.

Subs

Olivier Ntcham (for Smith) - Looked lively in the final third and helped Swansea remain on the front foot. 6

Ben Cabango (for Bennett) - Had the simple task of helping Swansea see out the game. N/A

Liam Cullen (for Piroe) - Too late to make an impact. N/A
