The stunning try by a Welsh youngster that just lit up a clash between England's biggest clubs

A stunning try by Welsh youngster Ioan Lloyd wasn't quite enough to secure victory for Bristol Bears over Exeter Chiefs in Tuesday night's Gallagher Premiership clash.

But the Cardiff teenager did set tongues wagging on social media after his late solo score had put the Bears on the brink of a remarkable victory at Ashton Gate.

The clash between the top two sides in the league had already been something of a heavyweight clash, with fellow Welshman Phil Dollman's opening score for Exeter setting the bar when it came to quality.

The Chiefs led 15-3 at half-time, only for the hosts to storm back.

And it was 19-year-old Lloyd who looked to have won it with a remarkable individual try after coming on as a replacement.

The teen, who has been tipped as a future Wales international, waltzed past the visiting defence to put the Bears ahead as the match neared its finish.

In the end, Exeter managed to pull back in front late on to secure a 22-25 victory, but the reaction to Lloyd's try was still one of awe on social media.

One Twitter user said: "Oh hello Ioan Lloyd! That was absolute filth and I am 100% here for it"

Another said: "What a try. Untouchable. Well done Ioan Lloyd. Take a bow son."

And a number were quick to call on Wayne Pivac to give Lloyd, who was likened to All Blacks star Damien McKenzie earlier this year, a senior call-up.
