The stunning River Wye cottage Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse stayed in on Gone Fishing that you can rent

Legendary comedians, keen fishermen and general silly sods Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse were in Wales on the latest episode of their BBC Two show Gone Fishing and as ever they stayed in a banging bit of accommodation.

The brilliant news is, not only are you a fan of one of the best shows on telly, you can also stay in the Ty Newydd, which overlooks the River Wye in Mid Wales and which the famous pair, who have stayed in many amazing places for the show, think could be one of the most beautiful spots they have stayed in.

Whitehouse, who was born in Wales, said in the episodes that he was 'very proud to come from the Rhondda.' He was born in Stanleytown in 1958 before he and his family moved to Middlesex when he was four.

The pair are overjoyed at their accommodation and dance around on the terrace before enjoying a beer and discussing their day's fishing.

Sadly Paul and Bob won't be there to teach you how to fish or cook you a delicious heart-healthy tea (nor mashed up crisps), but we're sure you won't mind as the cottage itself is a real star.

The four-bed home is above a privately-owned stretch of the River Wye and sleeps between two and eight guests who have an outdoor terrace to sit on and soak up the view, or if the weather is nice, enjoy an alfresco dinner.

Decor is cosy and modern and there's a wood-burner, too. And you'll also find a cosy cinema room, where preferably you'll watch more Gone Fishing, or Shooting Stars or the Fast Show on the projector, maybe?

With walk-in showers, king-sized beds and the cinema room, what more could you want from a holiday cottage?

Like Paul and Bob you can go fishing on the private stretch of the Wye in front of the house, but that must be booked in with the local Wye and Usk Foundation.

And it's not the first time the Wye Valley has taken centre stage on TV of late, the picturesque area of Wales is a huge feature in the smash hit Netflix show, Sex Education, which films around the Wye and Usk areas and just across the border at Symonds' Yat. See more here on that story.
