The stunning revelation that poses big questions of Arsenal's transfer strategy

Denis Suarez has revealed that he was not even 50 per cent fit when he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal made the move to sign the midfielder on loan from Barcelona during the January transfer window but he failed to make any form of impression as fitness woes plagued his time in north London.

The Gunners were unable to spend any money on new signings in January, instead being restricted to loan deals and Barcelona man Suarez was one of their top choices.

They eventually tied him down to a six-month deal on deadline day, but his move has been nothing short of a disaster, playing just 67 minutes of Premier League football.

That loan spell has now come to an end with the 25-year-old returning to the Nou Camp.

Suarez spoke out about his time at Arsenal during an interview with Spanish Radio station Cadena SER, where he said it was a 'year to forget'.

Suarez said: "I'm still recovering from the injury, I'm practically fully recovered.

"On the 16th day of arriving at Arsenal I was not even 50 per cent, it was a year to forget but also to learn.

"I have been in Barcelona for two months recovering from the injury and nobody from Barca has told me anything."
