The stunning alternative coffee cocktail to try if you love espresso martinis

With summer in full swing and back garden drinks become a regular weekend ritual, it's time to get exploring with your cocktails.

Many of us are accustomed to making the classics such as mojitos, porn star martinis and daquiris. But enjoying something too much can make us grow tiresome rather quick.

If you're a fan of the espresso martini, let us introduce you to this beautiful coffee tonic cocktail made by expert mixologist Dorian, who works at the Donnybrook restaurant which shares his name.

For this, Dorian uses one shot of espresso (40ml), 25ml Cognac, 15ml Disaronno (Amaretto) and 150ml Tonic.

To put it all together, simply follow the below steps:

  • Pour the Tonic over ice into a tall glass

  • Mix all other ingredients in a different glass/container

  • Pour it slowly over the ice to create a layer

  • Garnish it with a lemon zest expressing the oils over the glass

Mixologist Dorian (Aoife Raeside)

Dorian is a big believer in people trying drinks they may have never had before.

He told Dublin Live: "Most of the time people are afraid to try things they don't know. I like to make things weird.

"We have a martini that is made with poitin and sage infused vodka served with bitters. It's all of these flavours you never expect to in a cocktail."

As well as deliciously stylish cocktail from their expert mixologist, Dorian is a popular destination for some fine dining.

With it's top-quality talent in the kitchen, the restaurant serves delectable small plates such as their Cauliflower Korean Wings, Pan Fried Scallops, Grilled Chicken Skewer, Fennel Cured Mackerel and Grilled Dublin Bay Prawns.

Booking for Dorian can be made here.
