The Strokes are to play their first London show in five years with a headline set in Hyde Park this summer. The New York quintet are to top the bill at Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time, on 18 June, joining previously announced headliners Blur (20 June), Kylie Minogue (21 June), the Who (26 June) and Taylor Swift (27 June).

The Strokes will be supported by Beck, who earlier this month won the album of the year award at the Grammys, and Future Islands, whose Seasons (Waiting on You) was named best track of 2014 in the Guardian. Also on the bill are Temples, Public Service Broadcasting, the Wytches, Hinds, Gangahr, Yak and Kieran Leonard.

The Strokes’ Hyde Park performance is being billed as a UK festival exclusive, and they will also take on a headline slot at Primavera Sound in Barcelona on May. The band have not played in the UK since they co-headlined Reading and Leeds in 2011. They have released one album since those appearances: 2013’s Comedown Machine.
