The streets plagued by thugs where police have been forced to take drastic action this weekend

Police have launched a targeted crackdown on crime in an area of Failsworth.

A hard-hitting 'dispersal order' has been authorised and will remain in place throughout the weekend for 48 hours.

The orders enable police to tell gangs or individuals over the age of 10 to leave specific areas.

They are prohibited from returning to that area for the period of time the order remains in force.

Anyone who does return risks arrest.
