The steady Swansea City ratings as star lively and utility man a real threat at Middlesbrough

Ben Hamer : Made a good first-half save from Sporar’s flicked shot, but some of his distribution was all over the place 5

Ben Cabango: Didn’t allow Boro’s forwards to run into the challenges and produced a couple of important tackles 6

Kyle Naughton: Kept Sporar quiet for the vast majority of the afternoon and was generally in the right place when needed 7

Rhys Williams: Kept Boro’s forward line quiet for the most part, but was sacrificed in the second half as the Swans chased the game 6

Ethan Laird : Tried to get forward whenever possible, but his only shot was fired straight at the Boro keeper in the second half 6

Matt Grimes: Fired in a second-half free-kick that was tipped over the bar, but was never really able to control the central third 6

Flynn Downes: Was fairly anonymous for much of the afternoon, with Swansea’s best moves tending to come down the flanks 5

Ryan Manning: Offered a real threat down the left-hand side all afternoon and clipped the top of the bar in the early stages 8 (star man)

Korey Smith: Wasn’t able to make much of an impact in the final third and was replaced at the half-time interval 5

Joel Piroe: Must have thought he had scored when McNair cleared his goal-bound effort off the line – a lively presence in attack 7

Jamie Paterson: Will definitely think he should have had a penalty on the stroke of half-time, but was probably punished for going down too theatrically 6

Subs:

Ntcham (46): Didn’t offer much in attack, but made a superb covering tackle to prevent Watmore from scoring a Boro second 6

Obafemi (67): Wasn’t able to influence things in the final 25 minutes or so – didn’t really feature in the final third 5

Latibeaudiere (78): Came on at too late a stage to make a real difference, with Boro running the clock down well in the closing stages 5

(not used): Benda (gk), Bennett, Cullen, Bidwell.
