The stats that show why Fulham are a side to be feared for Nottingham Forest

Behind Leeds United, Fulham are the bookies' most favoured side to claim promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Whites, who will play host to Nottingham Forest this weekend, have started their campaign in fine form, taking nine points from a possible 12.

But their 4-0 victory at home to Millwall on Tuesday night broke Championship records and sent a real statement of intent to the rest of the the division.

Wolves loanee Ivan Cavaleiro notched a brace, while Anthony Knockaert and Aleksandar Mitrovic got themselves on the score sheet on what turned out to be one of the most one-sided games in recent Football League history.

According to their club website, Fulham had an astonishing 84.4 percent possession, the highest ever recorded in the Championship since Opta began collecting data six years ago.

During first-half periods, that statistic climbed as high as 89 percent and the home side romped to a two-goal lead at the break.

Scott Parker's side also completed the highest number of passes ever registered in a Championship fixture.

They found their man 934 times out of 991 attempted passes - a statistic even Guardiola's Barcelona side would have been proud of and nearly twice the number of passes that Millwall have managed this season.

“I think [the fans] liked the way we played against Millwall, and with this quality we’re showing it’s normal that the fans are happy with us," said Cavaleiro after his side's all dominant performance.

“We have difficult games coming and I think with this attitude, like I said, we can win games.

"We respect Millwall, we respect Nottingham Forest, but every game we play we go to win.”
