The stats that show why Chelsea might regret letting Tiémoué Bakayoko leave on loan

Tiémoué Bakayoko has enjoyed a fantastic season away from Chelsea having struggled to replicate his Monaco form last campaign after signing in the summer of 2017.

Having joined AC Milan on a season-long loan deal in August the Frenchman has enjoyed a new lease of life at the San Siro and has looked more like the player that did so well in Ligue Un before his big money move to Stamford Bridge.

He's endeared himself to the fans in Milan for his passionate performances and by scoring his first goal in black and red in the Milan derby against Inter.

The shock Liverpool exit that could give Chelsea hope of keeping Eden Hazard this summer

While Bakayoko has thrived, Chelsea's midfield has struggled somewhat with Jorginho coming in for criticisms from fans while Maurizio Sarri hasn't been able to figure out who should hold down the third starting spot between Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

And in the latest edition of the CIES Football Observatory weekly post, Bakayoko has been named as one of the top performing players in the whole of Serie A over the past 1000 minutes played in the league - while not one single Chelsea player features on the list for top performers in England.

Bakayoko features in a three-man midfield along with Piotr Zielinski of Napoli and Josip Ilicic of Atalanta, while fellow team mate Gianluigi Donnarumma is also on the list.

Here's the Serie A list in full:

Donnarumma; Kalidou Koulibaly, Daniele Rugani, Cristian Ansaldi, Timothy Castagne; Zielinksi, Bakayoko, Ilicic; Papu Gomez, Fabio Quagliarella, Duvan Zapata
