The stats that are great news for Hugo Lloris but will concern Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs

It's been a mixed start to the Premier League season for Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have picked up just five points from their opening four fixtures, with the one victory coming in the opening game against Aston Villa.

Two of those fixtures have been away against Manchester City and Arsenal, so a degree of perspective has to be kept.

But while Spurs have played against two of the league's most difficult opponents, one man has prospered under difficult circumstances.

Hugo Lloris has been on the receiving end of 56 efforts on goal in the clashes against City and Arsenal alone, making him one of the busiest players in the opening weeks.

This led the stopper to make a total of 19 saves in the opening four fixtures.

This makes Lloris the top goalkeeper in the Premier League for saves so far, ahead of the likes of Nick Pope (17), Tim Krul (17), Angus Gunn (15) and Arsenal's Bernd Leno (14).

While this statistic is great news for the Frenchman, it's certainly a worrying sign for Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs.

The Tottenham boss will not be happy with the amount of shots Hugo Lloris is facing, and he'll no doubt be working to improve their defensive fortunes if Spurs are to push towards the top four in the coming weeks.
