The stately home hotel offering a slice of traditional England during lockdown - with takeaway afternoon tea

There's no shortage of varieties when it comes to takeaway meals but a historic stately home is now getting in on the act.

The magnificent Hawkstone Hall in Shropshire is offering a take-away service every Friday and Saturday through November.

The 18th century venue is usually a favourite for visitors wanting to sample one of its renowned classic afternoon teas.

However, with strict lockdown curbs in place, it means Hawkstone Hall is now giving customers the chance to order the traditional English delight to take home.

The tea is full of classic flavours with a modern Hawkstone twist. Visitors can choose from a traditional selection, a savoury gentlemen’s option or the healthy guilt-free menu.

Most feature an array of delicate finger sandwiches, homemade cakes, tarts and scones, along with a selection of loose leaf teas or freshly brewed coffee.

A festive version complete with concert and carol service is scheduled for the run-up to Christmas, subject to Covid-19 restrictions being eased.

Hawkstone Hall is nestled within the hills of the rolling Shropshire countryside and is a magnificent Grade I listed estate.

The mansion features 37 bedrooms, two restaurants - The Saloon and Hills Kitchen - a gym and a number of stunning indoor and outdoor spaces with picturesque views.

Further details on all Hawkstone Hall afternoon tea options can be found here.
