The stat that shows Celtic are among the best goalscoring teams in world football

Yesterday saw Celtic secure their record-equalling ninth league title triumph in a row after the SPFL voted to end the league season due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

And their dominance of the domestic game in recent years has been highlighted via a stat that has been published in a fresh report by esteemed data site CIES Football Observatory.

The new study sought to find out the top division teams worldwide that have won the highest percentage of domestic games since 2015 and 2020 by three or more goals.

With Celtic coming in at 20th position in world football having won 29.7% of their league matches by three goals or more in Scotland over the past half-decade.

In terms of the big teams, only Ajax (37.4%), PSG (35.4%), Barcelona (35.4%), Benfica (33.5%), Shakhtar Donestk (32.9%) and Bayern Munich (32.4%) have better records.

Meanwhile, from a Scottish Premiership perspective, arch-rivals Rangers have won 20.9% of their domestic ties in the past five years by three goals or more.

With Livingston, perhaps surprisingly, in third place above Aberdeen with 13.5%.
