With uncertainty swirling around Sydney’s top-rated breakfast slot at ARN, insiders have revealed the network is already quietly eyeing replacements for Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson — but landing them could spark a high-stakes bidding war.
Behind the scenes, it’s being described as a game of “radio roulette”, with some of the biggest names in the industry tipped as dream replacements… despite being firmly locked into rival networks.
“Everyone has a wish list, but the reality is, most of the talent you’d want is already taken,” an insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Who’s on the wish list?
At the top of that list is radio favourite Chrissie Swan, with whispers she could be paired with quick-witted comedian Joel Creasey.
“Chrissie brings heart, Creasey brings bite. It’s a perfect balance,” the source said. “They’d cut through instantly in breakfast.”
The catch? Both announcers are committed to Nova, meaning any move would require a significant and costly endeavour.
“There are eyes all over the ARN building, so meetings have been happening off-site to avoid exposing potential talent having conversations with rival bosses,” the source added.

Meanwhile, a ready-made trio featuring Will McMahon, Woody Whitelaw and Sophie Monk is also being floated as a seamless solution. Sophie, who has filled in for Jackie O in the past, joined Woody on KIIS’ drive show earlier this year while Will was on paternal leave.
“They already have chemistry, and they already have an audience. It’s plug-and-play,” the insider explained. “If a network wanted a smooth transition, they’d be very hard to beat, but poaching an entire team would be a bold and costly move.”
Then there’s Beau Ryan, who has quietly built a loyal following on radio alongside his TV success.
“Beau’s a natural,” the source said. “He’s funny, relatable and proven across multiple platforms. He’d absolutely be a contender.”
Still, like the others, Beau is locked into his current deal. For now. And that’s the biggest hurdle facing networks right now: availability.
“To land any of these stars, you’d need to pull off a major deal,” the insider continued. “And that doesn’t happen overnight.”

With breakfast radio being one of the most competitive battlegrounds in Australian media, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and insiders say contingency plans are already being mapped out. Because in radio, everything can change instantly.
“One thing’s for sure, if you’re going to throw your hat in the ring, you’d better be ready to follow through,” the source said. “Because if your bosses think you’re ready to jump ship and it doesn’t come off, things can get very awkward.”
