The staggering amount that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has spent in compensation fees

It has been revealed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has spent a reported £92.9million in paying off managers since his arrival at the club in 2003.

The Russian has parted ways with 11 managers over the last 16 years, and if reports are to be believed, the number could soon rise to 12 with current manager Maurizio Sarri's future looking in doubt, despite the club reaching a third place Premier League finish and a Europa League final.

Sarri has been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, following the imminent departure of their manager Massimiliano Allegri, with Chelsea lining up Derby manager and club legend Frank Lampard as an option to take over from the Italian.

Chelsea chiefs may even welcome the interest from Juve, as the manager's future at the club was looking uncertain, with some reports circulating that Sarri would leave the club at the end of the season no matter what the result in the Europa League final against Arsenal was. Should the club decide to part ways, it would add to the already big fees paid out in dismissing previous managers.

As reported by the Times, Abramovich has been forced to pay £9million in compensation to former manager Antonio Conte after sacking him last summer to replace him with Sarri. Conte was in charge of the club for two seasons, winning the Premier League title in 2016/17. However, a number of falling outs with the playing squad lead to his dismissal in July 2018.
