The staggering amount Matthijs de Ligt's transfer value has risen in just 18 months

Matthijs de Ligt's transfer value has rocketed as the teenage centre-back has become one of world football's hottest transfer properties.

The 19-year-old is a target for Manchester United , Barcelona and Paris-Saint Germain , but has been strongly tipped for a move to Juventus .

De Ligt's stock shot through the roof as, at the age of just 19, the centre-back captained Ajax on a stunning run to the Champions League semi-finals, eliminating European heavyweights Real Madrid and Juventus on the way.

And his rise to the top has been reflected in his soaring transfer value.

In January 2018, at the age of 18, De Ligt was valued at £14.4million.

But after his stellar season with Ajax, he is now worth an eye-watering £67.5million, according to transfer stats experts Transfermarkt .

While De Ligt has been coy on his future, he has appeared to with his latest stint on Instagram .

The 19-year-old centre-back has liked a post from Cristiano Ronaldo - a potential future team-mate at Juventus.

It is not the first time that Ronaldo and De Ligt have had small interactions regarding his future, either.

During the UEFA Nations League this summer, De Ligt was told by Ronaldo that Juventus is the club he should be signing for.

Speaking to Dutch publication NOS, the Dutchman confirmed that his rival spoke to him following the final between the Netherlands and Portugal.

De Ligt was questioned afterwards about what Ronaldo had told him - and on whether he hinted at a move to Juve.

"That could well be true," said De Ligt. "What I answered? I didn't understand him at first. So I said… no, I didn't say anything."

De Ligt added: "I was a bit shocked, that's why I laughed. But I didn't say anything. Just after the game you just feel bad that you've lost, that’s all you're thinking about."
