The staggering amount Arsenal's squad value has plunged, according to transfer experts

The value of Arsenal's squad has plummeted by 18% since the football season was suspended, according to transfer experts Transfermarkt.com.

All clubs in the Premier League are facing financial implications after the season was suspended as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The season has been suspended since March 13 with the country placed in lockdown to slow the spread of the virus.

All clubs are missing out on television, advertising and sponsorship revenue, while finances are going to continue to be stretched the longer the lockdown goes on, with clubs having to pay contracted players.

But as time goes on, the value of players also diminishes.

And Transfermarkt.com have estimated that the Arsenal squad has decreased by 18% as a result of the suspension.

The site, which is used by clubs, agents and scouts in the Premier League have calculated the valuations of top-flight teams in the last fortnight since football went into lockdown.

The Arsenal squad was valued at £636.08million on March 15, but now that figure is at £521.42million - a whopping decrease of £114.66million in little more than three weeks.

The website read: "Transfermarkt reacted on the coronavirus crisis with a worldwide market value downgrade for the majority of players – the squad values of Premier League clubs are going down by more than €1.8 billion as a result.

"Players, who were born in 1998 or later are downgraded by 10%, all others – down to a minimum value of €300,000 – by 20%. In England’s four highest leagues, this leads to a market value loss of €2.01 billion – the squad values of the 20 Premier League clubs go down by €1.84 billion alone.

"This equates to a minus of 18.94% in comparison to the previous record value of €9.71 billion."

Transfer fees are set to be slashed going into the summer window, with clubs having less to spend on new signings.
