The Squid Game Season 3 Trailer Just Dropped And Omfg

After the blood-filled cliffhanger of Squid Game season two, the beloved Korean horror-drama is back for a third and final season. I’m not sure if I’m ready to say goodbye to this show just yet, but I am ready to stop sweating and covering my eyes as I watch this goddmamn show.

Ever since Squid Game season one came out in 2021, audiences have been captivated by its compelling plot, unique visuals and brilliant acting. So, it was no surprise when the series smashed through streaming records, becoming the most-streamed series on Netflix ever for season one, with season two sitting in second place.

With the third and final season about to hit Netflix in just over a month, I think another record is on the cards. Anyway, here’s everything we know about the upcoming third season of Squid Game — and please note, we do have season two spoilers below.

When is Squid Game season three coming out?

Squid Game season three will be available to watch on Netflix on June 27. I’m already counting down the days!!!

Is there a trailer for Squid Game season three?

While there isn’t an entire trailer for the upcoming season, there is a teaser trailer, and it’s got me simultaneously nervous and terrified for Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae).

You can check it out below.

What happens in Squid Game season three?

To understand what happens in Squid Game season three, we have to talk about the cliffhanger at the end of season two. So, if you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading right now.

If you have (or don’t care about spoilers), let me refresh your memory. When we last saw Player 456, he had just lost his friend Choo Sang-Woo (Park Hae-soo) after the players turned against the pink-suited Squid Game soldiers in an effort to bring the bloodshed to an end once and for all.

The worst bit? The Front Man (aka the guy in the black geometric mask) is masquerading as Player 001, a man going by the pseudonym of Young-il (Lee Byung-hun). While Gi-hun trusts him entirely, Young-il was the one who murdered Choo Sang-Woo.

Now that’s not a present I’d like to receive. (Image: Squid Game / Netflix)

In the teaser trailer for season three, we see Gi-hun taken into the game room in a black box with a bow like the deceased players are usually put in. As the remaining players gather around, we see that Gi-hun is still alive.

Now, the players are in for a bunch of new, deadly games. Using a lucky dip ball machine, the players are sorted into a red group and a blue group. While we don’t know exactly what they’re in for, I think it’s fair to say there will be quite a few deaths on the cards.

Yikes.

Who is in Squid Game season three?

Of course, Lee Jung-jae is back as player 456 and his nemesis, The Front Man, is played by Lee Byung-hun.

Former police officer turned scorned brother Hwang Jun-Ho (Wi Ha-joon) is still on the hunt to find out what is going on.

Yim Si-wan returns as crypto influencer, Myung-Gi. He is in the games alongside his ex-girlfriend, Jun-Hee played by Jo Yuri. Mother and son duo Geum-Ja (Kang Ae-Sim) and Yong-Sik (Yang Dong-geun) return to season three, alongside former Navy soldier Dae-Ho (Kang Ha-neul).

Our favourite Squid Game soldier No-Eul (Park Gyu-young) has returned for season three.

They’re joined by Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Chae Kuk-hee, Lee David, Roh Jae-won, and Jun Suk-ho, with a special appearance by Park Hee-soon

Is this the last season of Squid Game?

Sadly, yes. The third season is the final instalment of the beloved, bloody series. So soak it up!!

Speaking to Variety after the season two finale, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared that he originally had only one more season in mind after season one. However, when he started writing it, he realised that the story arc was too big for less than 10 episodes.

“With each episode, it’s going to get better,” he said.

“With each season, it’s going to get better and a more expanded story, more intense story, and definitely more entertaining. So just be sure to watch it until the very end!”
