Tottenham are said to be targeting a move for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon, but a move for the Wales international poses a dilemma for Jose Mourinho.
Spurs are said to be plotting a move for Rodon, but time is running out with the transfer window deadline at 11pm.
Now, Tottenham don't necessarily need to worry about that deadline because the domestic window, which allows Premier League clubs to sign EFL players, runs until October 16.
But there is a reason why Spurs are still in a rush to get the deal done.
Time is of the essence because the deadline to register players to compete in UEFA competitions - i.e the Champions League and Europa League - is tonight and Rodon, who does not qualify for the club-trained player or associated-trained player rule, would need to be included on Spurs' squad list.
Rodon is now 22 and he is also registered to the Football Association of Wales, meaning he doesn't qualify as an associated-trained player with players needing to be between 15 and 21 and registered to the same association which, in Tottenham's case, would be the FA.
That means, if Spurs wanted Rodon to play in the Europa League group stage, they would need to complete the transfer and include him in their Europa League squad list by the 11pm deadline.
If a deal goes through after tonight, Rodon will not be able to compete in the Europa League until early next year when Tottenham can add to their list.
As is the case for all clubs, if Spurs were to make it through to the Round of 32, they would be able to include up to three new players to compete in the knockout stages.
