The spy inside Auschwitz: The true story of Polish resistance fighter Witold Pilecki

Witold Pilecki was a Polish resistance fighter who volunteered to go to Auschwitz, from where he sent secret messages to warn the world about the true nature of Nazi Germany's largest concentration camp. After the war, Pilecki was tried and executed. For years, he was described as a traitor and an enemy of the Polish state. Our Perspective guest has written a book about his incredible story. Jack Fairweather is the award-winning author of "The Volunteer: One Man, an Underground Army, and the Secret Mission to Destroy Auschwitz". He told us about the parallels between Pilecki's legacy and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

"Prisonnier volontaire, L'histoire vraie du résistant polonais qui a infiltré Auschwitz" has been published in French by Editions Flammarion.
