Tiger Woods was hospitalized on Tuesday after a car crash in California that, per his agent Mark Steinberg, left him with “multiple leg injuries.” Steinberg added in the statement that the legendary golfer was in surgery.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the accident and said Woods was “extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life.'”
Athletes from around the sports world — from NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB and golf, although some golfers were in the middle of press conferences ahead of this week’s Workday Championship when the news broke — sent their prayers for Woods over social media.
