The spooky Grand National omen that says Liverpool will beat Man City to Premier League title

Liverpool witnessed a bit of sporting history on Saturday.

At Aintree, the 2019 Grand National saw Tiger Roll emphatically defend the title won in fine fashion 12 months earlier.

In doing so, he became the first horse since Red Rum in 1974 to win the world's most famous steeplechase in successive years.

Mohamed Salah's disappearing act, Divock Origi frustration and other Liverpool moments missed vs Southampton  

Red Rum won it again for an unprecedented third time in 1977.

And here's where Liverpool supporters will be paying particular interest.

Tiger Roll has this year become the first horse since that Red Rum triumph 42 years to win the National having previously claimed first place in the race.

That year, the Reds were going for the double of the championship and the European Cup.

They won both - and finished a point ahead of Manchester City in the final top-flight standings.

Jurgen Klopp and the current Liverpool vintage stand two points clear of City at the top of the Premier League and are preparing for a Champions League quarter-final against Porto next week.

And what they'd give for a repeat of 1977...
