The SPFL prize money your club will get after proposal is finally voted through

The SPFL have finally saw their resolution to end leagues early voted through after Dundee voted yes.

Scottish football is feeling the financial hit from the coronavirus shutdown but there is money on the way.

Several clubs including Rangers and most recently Hearts have been calling on the SPFL to release funds in the form of loans BEFORE calling the league but league bosses insisted the rules did not allow them to do so.

Yet, the £25million prize pot has already seen some funds sent clubs’ way through the season but the overall cash up for grabs goes from more than £3m to the Premiership champions down to just more than £1m for the team finishing bottom of the top flight.

The money on offer drops significantly down the divisions – with the Championship winners due to pocket £562,000 and the side rooted to the foot of the second tier banking £175,000.

It’s less again for the teams in Leagues One and Two. The third tier champs will earn £125,000, with £70,000 going to the club that ends up bottom of the division, which is slightly more than the £67,000 sides get for winning League Two.

Right at the end of the food chain is the club anchored to the foot of the basement division. They will collect £45,000 – and would usually face a play-off to remain in the league against the winners of the showdown between the Highland and Lowland League champions.
