The special request Jorginho made to Gabriel Martinelli during Chelsea's draw with Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho took the opportunity during the London derby with Arsenal to make a special request to starlet Gabriel Martinelli.

The 18-year-old netted the Gunners' first goal at Stamford Bridge, scoring for the second Premier League match in the row, propelling himself further into the limelight.

Signed as a relatively unknown youngster from second-tier Brazilian side Ituano in the summer, Martinelli has caught the eye with his performances for Arsenal this term.

Due to this, Martinelli now finds himself at the centre of a tug of war on the international stage as Brazil and Italy are both competing to get him to pledge his allegiance.

As a result, Italy international Jorginho reportedly made a cheeky push to get the teenager to commit to the European nation.

According to Globo Esporte Jorginho told him: "I am waiting for you in March."

Martinelli has already featured for Brazil's U23 side, who wanted to take him to the Olympic qualifying tournament this month, but he also holds an Italian passport.

Jorginho also praised Martinelli in his post-match comments, stating: "He is really doing an incredible job. He burst out of nowhere… He has the merit that he was ready the moment the opportunity came.

"He's standing out, he deserves it, and I hope he can help the Italian team a lot."

It has been claimed that Martinelli turned down a call-up for Italy's U19 side in September, saying he was too busy with his commitments at club level, but featured for Brazil's U23 side in November.
