The special Premier League trophy Liverpool are set to get at end of the season

The Premier League have held talks to discuss handing Liverpool a gold trophy at the end of the season.

The Reds could get the trophy in May if they continue their incredible form and finish the season unbeaten in the league.

Jurgen Klopp's men are already 25 points clear in the race for their first top flight title in 30 years.

And they could also match Arsenal's Invicibles by finishing the season unbeaten.

So far in this campaign, they've only dropped points in one game with an incredible 76 points in 26 games.

According to the Daily Mail, the league have already started thinking about what they will do if Liverpool do match Arsenal's team.

The trophy was given to Arsenal in 2004 with their season's record engraved into it.

It was later given to Arsene Wenger as a parting gift when he quit the club two years ago.

But despite being so far ahead of their chasing pack, Liverpool players aren't taking it for granted.

Joe Gomez said: "We've had the winter break and now it's down the home stretch.

"We know how important this run of games is as it's an intense period of the season and it's crunch time really.

"It's the most important part and you just build the foundation from the start of the season to this period here.

"We are blessed to have the squad that we do and everyone will have to play their part to get us over the line."
