The sparkling Cardiff City player ratings as young duo announce themselves in the biggest game of them all vs Swansea City

Dillon Phillips 8

Tipped Conor Hourihane's early free-kick around the post when it was threatening to sneak in. Cleared a couple of dangerous corners plonked right on his nose, too. Brilliantly tipped Morgan Whittaker's shot away in the dying seconds. Kicking left a bit to be desired.

Sean Morrison 9

Another warrior-like performance. Put his head in where it hurt, made a number of blocks and interceptions when the Swans built up a head of steam, and contributed in the other box, too.

Aden Flint 8

Fired home that bullet-header early doors to give City the lead. Screamed at the defensive line to keep them in shape and barked at the midfielders if they were sitting too deep. Another giant performance.

Ciaron Brown 8

Thanks to City's press, Swansea had to lump balls forward to Andre Ayew and the centre-back kept batting them right-back from whence they came. Was a defensive monster after the break and made two crucial late blocks. But really needs to work on his distribution!

Tom Sang 9 (star man)

A really confident showing from the youngster, his best yet, and what a time to put in a performance like that. Won headers, intercepted passes and bombed forward at will. A tremendous outing from the wing back.

Will Vaulks 8

Made one outrageous 35-yard, volleyed pass with the outside of his boot to set-up a chance for Bacuna. Was dragged left and right with relentless defensive tasks and did so brilliantly.

Marlon Pack 8

Forced Freddie Woodman into a big save which led to Flint's goal. Kept calm and composed throughout and organised the midfield well, especially when the late pressure was heaped on.

Joe Ralls 8

A top performance, considering he was playing out of position at wing back. Was hesitant to get too far forward but stuck to his defensive tasks superbly well.

Harry Wilson 7

He did look really up for it and busted a gut leading the press, picked out a couple of lovely balls, too. But his influence diminished as Swansea grew into it.

Leandro Bacuna 7

Another one who was instrumental in the high press. Smashed one volleyed effort straight at Woodman in the first half. Ran tirelessly all night and put in a solid display for just over an hour.

Kieffer Moore 8

Cardiff needed him to be on song from the off and he was. Missed a gilt-edged chance when he rounded the keeper, but that was the only blot on his copybook. Simply put, Cardiff could not have withstood the barrage without his peerless back-to-goal ability.

Subs

Josh Murphy (on for Bacuna 66) 6 - Was screamed at by McCarthy for the entire time he was on the pitch. Made him run his legs off. Did not make a huge impact, though.

Sheyi Ojo (on for Wilson 84) NA - Wasn't on long enough but City needed a fresh pair of legs late on.
