Russell Martin knew when it was time up for him at Southampton.
Sunday, December 15 last year, Martin's Saints found themselves 5-0 down to Spurs at half time on home soil. The game ended in the same score.
The now-Rangers head coach just knew he was going to be sacked, especially given his side's run of one win in 16 Premier League games.
"I went in thinking that time was done," he revealed in a previous interview reflecting on his dismissal. "I needed to go to the toilet and compose myself before doing the team talk.
"Then my assistant walks in and says 'It's five'. I thought he was joking.
"So, I went in and said to the lads at half-time, 5-0 down: 'I'm getting sacked tonight'.
"If I'm the owner, I'd look at that performance and think we're at the end of the line, end of the journey.
"So, I said to the lads: 'For 45 minutes, pleased don't end it in a 9-0. You've done too much for us and I feel too much pride in you. I hope you can reciprocate that for the next 45 minutes and actually dig in and defend'.
"It was like an out of body experience watching the second half, I felt so detached from it because I knew what was coming.
"After the game, I spoke to the guys again and said: 'Thanks for everything, I'm not sure what's going to happen now."

Key Rangers 2025/26 Europa League dates in focus after Club Brugge loss
Martin now finds himself in a similar predicament at Rangers after last night's 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Club Brugge, which saw the Belgians claim a 9-1 aggregate victory in the Champions League play-off.
The 39-year-old claimed during his post-match interviews that he doesn't fear for his job after the embarrassing defeat.
But perhaps this old interview from Martin, reflecting on his final hours as Southampton boss, gives us an insight into what he was really thinking.
The away support could be heard chanting 'Martin, get to f***' during various stages of last night's encounter.
And with Celtic - who aren't in any great shape themselves - holding the chance to go 10 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win at Ibrox on Sunday, the club's new American ownership has a decision to make on Martin.
