The Snuts pull out of TRNSMT gig after band member tests positive for Covid

Scottish band The Snuts have been forced to pull out of TRNSMT after a band member tested positive for Covid.

The indie group from West Lothian were originally scheduled to play on the Main Stage at Glasgow Green later today.

But it has been confirmed that this will no longer take place after one of the band and a crew member contracted the virus.

The band said that they are “beyond devastated” at the news in a statement to fans this morning.

They wrote: “We are beyond devastated to let you know that we are unable to perform at TRNSMT festival today.

“A band member and one of our crew have both tested positive for Covid.

“We put so much work into what was going to be the biggest show of our lives and we were so excited to share it with you.

“We will see you all for three nights at the Barrowlands.”

It is unclear if another act will be drafted in to fill their slot, which has now been left empty as a result of the cancellation.

A spokesperson for TRNSMT said: "Unfortunately some members of The Snut’s team have tested positive for COVID so the band have to cancel their appearance at cinch presents TRNSMT.

“It’s obviously disappointing news for a lot of fans but we’re wishing them a speedy recovery and hope they can join us at the festival in the future. Set times will be updated soon so fans should download the festival app to get the most up to date times.”

Around 50,000 revellers are expected to descend on Scotland’s largest city for the first day of the festival today.

The Courteeners, Primal Scream, Liam Gallagher and the Chemical Brothers are among the names on this year’s star-studded line up.

It is the first time that music lovers have been able to attend the festival in two years after it was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
