This book is the sequel to The Sin Eater’s daughter and follows a minor character in that first book. Errin is Lief’s sister and since he left her she has had to look after herself and her mother. Only this isn’t the only problem – the Sleeping Prince is coming. Everyone is moving away and Errin has to face the fact that she might not be able to return to her old life.
Since I loved the first book I was very desperate to get my hands onto this book and I had very high expectations! At first glance I didn’t know we would be reading from Errin’s point of view so I wasn’t sure whether the book would live up to my high expectations. It did.
The plot of this book is just something that words can’t explain (and I can’t tell you otherwise it will spoil the book). I think that if you loved the first book then you will adore this book because you get to read about the background of the first book but you also get to see the character development. Salisbury writes in such a way that I would be able to understand why the characters made their decisions and I got to fall in love with all the characters.
Furthermore, I just love this world this book is set it and how Salisbury describes that world without inundating us with too much information which would make the reader lose their concentration.
However I must say that the action only happened half way through the book, and this made me a little disappointed because I thought it would be fast paced like to first book.
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I loved all aspects of it. If you love the Throne of Glass series then this will be a great read for you!
