The Conservatives are expected to win a big majority following the result of the General Election exit poll earlier this evening, with the party gaining widespread support from all corners of the country.
That support has even infiltrated into Merseyside and its neighbouring constituencies, where according to the exit poll by Sky, ITV and the BBC, six seats could be won by Prime Minister Boris Johnson's party.
Damien Moore looks set to comfortably hold his current Southport seat, while the party also has a chance of taking Wirral West - the seat once held by Esther McVey.
Weaver Vale, a seat won by Labour in 2017, is one of those expected to be regained by the Conservatives.
Elsewhere, the Conservatives are rated as having good chances in Lancashire West, Warrington North and Warrington South.
The projections for key seats in and neighbouring our area:
Southport - 99% chance of Conservative hold
Wirral West - 75% chance of Labour hold, 25% chance of a Tory gain
Lancashire West - 51% chance of Labour hold, 49% chance of Conservative gain
Weaver Vale - 99% chance of Tory gain from Labour
Warrington North - Too close to forecast 52% chance of Tory gain
Warrington South - Too close to forecast 66% chance of a Tory gain
Earlier this evening, the exit poll for the 2019 General Election predicted a landslide Tory majority.
The poll is forecasting an 86-seat majority for Boris Johnson's Conservatives - in what would be a disaster for Labour and Jeremy Corbyn.

Mark Francois compares exit poll result to fall of the Berlin Wall:
The exit poll is not always correct, but in 2017 it correctly predicted a hung parliament and it is likely to offer a good insight of how the overall election will go.
The sheer size of the predicted majority for the Conservatives is remarkable - and is not a result many have been expecting.
