The six Edinburgh leisure venues that re-open today and all of the new changes

Edinburgh Leisure has revealed the six local authority gyms that will re-open their doors from 14 September onwards.

The Edinburgh City Council gyms have been closed down for five months during the pandemic and they say that opening back up with new COVID measures in place has been a 'big and complex task.'

The six venues which re-open today will see some major changes in place, with all of the gyms now cashless and only accepting customers who have pre-booked in advance.

Here are are the six venues that re-open today and what changes you can expect to see.

Here are the six venues re-opening from Monday 14 onwards:

Ainslie Park

Drumbrae Leisure Centre

Leith Victoria Swim Centre

Craiglockhart Leisure & Tennis Centre

Gracemount Leisure Centre

Royal Commonwealth Pool

The changes in place:

  • All activities are pre-booked only (via our app or website)
  • We are cashless and accept contactless payments
  • We have safety guidance signage throughout our venues
  • There are sanitisation stations to use before and after each visit
  • All activities are timetabled with staggered session start times to reduce congestion
